About the module: Financial management is the application of management concepts to the budgeting, forecasting, managing, and controlling of a businesss financial resources in order to achieve its goals. It seeks to maximise investor profit by optimising the firms cash flow. It addresses all aspects of profitability, expenses, cash, and credit.

Purpose of the module: Be able to consider the potential consequences of their management decisions on profits, cash flow and on the financial condition of the business.

Rational of the module: Without sound financial management, a business can go wrong and incur losses. Financial management assists a business in organising its finances and acquiring the required capital. It is critical for the efficient and effective use of borrowed money, and businesses require financial management to make financial decisions.

Skills programme - How to manage business finances

The purpose of the skills programme: The purpose of the programme is to assist delegates understand the four basic financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, and statement of owners equity) and be able to evaluate the businesss liquidity, efficiency, profitability, and risk using standard financial ratio analysis. Throughout the programme, delegates will practice thorough bookkeeping, making accurate projections, creating financial statements, and financial ratio analysis. Upon successfully completing the programme, delegates should be able to demonstrate knowledge, application, and comprehension of working capital management, capital budgeting, and financial reporting and analysis.
